    Mokkō; both faces and edge of the raised border covered with scrolling stems in shakudō wire inlay, the field with clematis vines in the same technique, the flowers, shown in perspective, inlaid in silver with brass centres.

    A very similar guard in the Victoria and Albert Museum (from the Hawkshaw Collection) is signed Fujiwara no Kunimichi.
