Textile fragment with lobed medallions and flowers

Details

  • Catalogue text

Small and large oval medallions, each with a lobed surround. They are filled with various plant designs, with one large flower at the centre. The larger medallions are in addition filled with tiny, red curls on white ground, or with white dots on blue. The background to the medallions is blue dyed over red and appears purple.

Selvedge, with remains of stitching along it. There is additional stitching in the centre of the fragment, probably a mending seam.
